Hate isn't always a dirty word...

In our house HATE is a grown-up word. We originally said it was a bad word and we all tried not to say it in front of the kids. Then one day Belle told grandma that she had said a bad word, grandma Kuhlig does not and I repeat does NOT say bad words!! So that inspired me to call it a grown-up word. You see there are many grown-up words; stupid, dumb, butt... I could go on but basically they are ones that grown-ups can say because they know how to use them and won't (hopefully) abuse them. Hate is in that category!!!

You see I have hate in my heart for things but not for people.

"We are called to practice love in all things except when it comes to sin. Sin we are to despise and HATE, and in doing so we are to turn to what is good and cling to it."
Romans 12:9

God has told us what to hate, sin. I don't believe that my babies have the discernment to know how to tell the difference between sin that people do and people who sin. I love the sinner, I am the sinner but I HATE the sin like you wouldn't believe!! So this is why my children aren't allowed to use that word, yet!! We have talked about how God hates sin and we are to do the same thing, but they aren't old enough to understand that yet.

I have to tell you this post is a pretty spontaneous one. I see things that make me so angry that seriously I want to scream!! I hate how marriages are something that are disposable! I hate selfishness! I hate the bullying of anyone at any age! I hate how families are ripped apart by any form of substance abuse! I hate that the internet is a tool that Satan is using to cause people to struggle and sin!! Oh man I have a really long list but I don't want to get myself to upset. I really just needed to say it!

It all started with a clogged sink...

I told you earlier this summer that my father in law did a small remodel on our bathroom and we have been trying to finish it with color and decor.
This is the floor that we got from my father in law~LOVE IT!!! It is a tan ceramic tile and it is just so nice looking!

We then had to decide on a color and teal is what I wanted but I really loved the bold dark color, I just love how it pops.

I took the furnace grate, light switches, and toilet paper roll down and spray painted it a dark metal color. I loved how it adds a touch of class to the room.. Those are the cheap plastic ones that have been there since we moved in, cost of spray paint was all it cost!!

Then I found a shower curtain with all of the colors we will be using in the room and guess what.... It was on sale!!! Not the super best price but sale it was on sale so it counts! I also love it!! I just purchased a new curtain rod, like right now, a friend of mine is selling it and it is just what we have been looking for. It is one of the curved ones, Matthew loves those! Shh don't tell him it is a Christmas gift.

Then I had to decide what to do with this window that used to look out to our back door but now is covered up with our laundry room and all you see is insulation. I hated it but didn't know what to do but rip it out and cover it with drywall. Matthew has a vision but it is taking to long to do it and I just am tired of looking at insulation.

So I got this awesome idea at like 3am, my best ideas come then, and I had all of the material for it already. I took all of the blue paint that I already had that matches the shower curtain and painted it to resemble the sea. The loose theme is Moby Dick but I don't want to be to literal so this is what I did. I love it!!

See the old blind holders??? I asked Matthew to take them down a few weeks ago, so you see the time I have to work with. He will do it just on his time and instead of be mad I just either do it or change.

We still are not completely finished but we are so close. Matthew is making a mirror, we have to install a new light, Matthew is going to paint a whale on the wall, and then decorations. I am pretty excited about all the work that is getting done. Then I will show you the finished product...

Bedroom remodel

Ok I have been really busy since I lost my beloved, now formally beloved, computer for like a month. I did a ton of projects that I had been meaning to do but always found myself on the computer and not doing anything I really wanted too.
So I started on some furniture in our bedroom. This is something I saw on Miss Mustardseed's blog, I love LOVE her!! So I just knew I could do it!!
Our bedroom is tiny so I needed furniture that would be the best for the little space we had. I got a tall 5 drawer and a bedside table with drawers too... All together both pieces were $50, I strive for cheap!!
So I painted the base a really dark brown that matched my bed and then the fun part!! A friend of ours had tons of old hymn books that were years old, all worn and yellow!! I cut and trimmed the pages to show just music and lyrics. I used Mod Podge, and if you haven't ever decoupaged anything you really have to, it is so messy and fun! I covered the drawers and top of both the dressers in the pages in no particular pattern, love it!! It turned out amazing!!

This is the dresser, the nightstand wouldn't upload, now you know why the computer and I have parted! I just hate technology!!

Excuse the dust, I am drywalling and Ichabod is in the middle of all of the mess, poor guy!!
We have plans on painting but I have to settle on a color and finish the sanding, my least favorite job ever!!

So this is something else that has found its way into the room. I took an old frame and spray painted it. Then I sanded it, just lightly. I got some chicken wire from our local Ace, I get most of my stuff there, and thumb-tacked it to the back. Then I found a fun little wooden accessory and glued it to the top, it was just the push that gave it the perfect look!! I used wood glue and you really have to be careful, it will show up. It doesn't dry clear. So after all of that I got the most me jewelry holder.

We have a ways to go and we are working on 2 other rooms as well so I will show you the finished product when all is done!!
